About Event

In the first part, you’ve learned the syntax...Now let’s build something.

TLDR: Register for this event and watch this: https://youtu.be/tgJ8d9yQtKY

This is the second session of our Rust bootcamp series.

In the first session, we covered the fundamentals. Now, in this two-hour intensive workshop, we focus entirely on the "build". This session is dedicated to hands-on exercises and building a mini-project together to cement the concepts we learned previously.

More details will be shared soon.

Missed the first session? It is highly recommended that you watch the recording of the first bootcamp to grasp the fundamentals before joining this one: 🔗 https://youtu.be/tgJ8d9yQtKY

Based on the number of attendees, this might not be a public event: registration is required to receive the link and participate. Please register here to be sure you can attend it.

🎯 Who is this bootcamp for?

This event is specifically designed for those ready to write code. It's perfect for you if:

  • You attended Session 1 and are ready for the next step.

  • You have a basic grasp of Rust syntax (variables, loops, simple functions) but need practice.

  • You learn best by doing rather than just reading slides or documentation.

⚙️ Key Prerequisites

To get the most out of this session, please ensure you have:

  • Rust Fundamentals: You should know the basics covered in the first session (or have watched the recording).

  • Rust Installed: Unlike the first session where you could just watch, this session is hands-on. You need a working environment to code along with us.

  • A Code Editor: VS Code (with the rust-analyzer extension) is highly recommended.

🛠️ How to Verify Your Installation

Open your terminal (or Command Prompt on Windows) and try rustc --version and cargo --version.

💻 GitHub Repository

We will use this repository to share the exercises and the project code. Please have this page ready: https://github.com/FrancescoXX/rust-crush-bootcamp

⏳ Structure and Duration

We have extended this session to 2 hours to allow time for deep work and coding. The agenda will be:

Phase 1: Hands-on Exercises

  • We will tackle specific coding drills designed to reinforce the fundamentals.

  • We will focus on fixing common beginner mistakes and getting comfortable with the compiler.

Phase 2: Building a Project

  • We will take everything we've learned and combine it to build a working application from scratch.

  • This will be a guided coding session where we write the logic step-by-step.

Phase 3: Review & Q&A

  • We will review the code we just wrote.

  • Open Q&A for any blockers or errors you faced during the session.

🔴 Important Note on Privacy and Recording

The event will be recorded, and some parts may be reused for content on my social channels (e.g., YouTube, X, etc.) or even as part of some paid products. By participating, you automatically agree to this possibility. I understand this may be a concern for some. If you prefer not to appear, there is absolutely NO PROBLEM! I recommend that you:

  • Keep your camera turned off.

  • Change your username before joining the call.

  • Your active participation requires neither your face nor your real name.
