About Event

Fragments is a tabletop survival game about becoming the most resilient clan in a dying river basin.

What happens when your home changes beyond recognition? When the lifelines you depend on crumble, and every attempt to take control only pulls you deeper into the spiral?

Fragments is a work-in-progress tabletop game inspired by a 150 km walk along a dying desert river. You play as clan leaders, managing scarce water resources and building your people's resilience against impending droughts. But beware, every action you take that pushes the river too far breaks the ecosystem, reducing water availability for all.

We're playtesting the very first prototype, so come prepared for handwritten index cards, scrappy board game tokens, and rules that might need bending. What we need most is your honest reaction: what works, what doesn't and what feels right.

Beverages on the house!

Fragments is an attempt to make visible the slow, invisible forces fragmenting a river, and with it, the livelihoods and communities built around it. Your feedback will help shape what it becomes.

About Moving Upstream: Luni Fellowship

In 2024, a group of fellows from the Moving Upstream: Luni Fellowship (organised by Veditum India Foundation and School of Public Policy at IIT Delhi, with support from Out of Eden Walk and A4Store) collectively covered nearly 500 kilometres of the Luni's length on foot.

The aim was to document the river and life in and around it, the impact of man-made actions on those whose livelihoods depend on the river and improve our understanding of the Luni river ecosystem. This game is one of the emerging outputs from the walk.
