[Official UNFCCC Side Event] Powering the Circular City

Join us, on Energy Day, for the UNFCCC's Official Side Event on Powering Circular Cities.

Panellists including David Rogers, Chief Partnerships & Growth Officer WRAP (Moderator), Bruno-Frédéric Baudouin, CEO Kanadevia Inova, and David Olatunji, President of the African Smart Cities Innovation Foundation.

Event will bring together two Presidency themes: zero waste and climate-resilient cities. Using Casablanca, Abuja, and two additional African Cities as case studies, speakers will explore what happens when waste, energy, and urban planning are treated as an integrated opportunity to address climate and social needs rather than independent challenges.

Panel Overview

The session will start with an introduction to the ideal ‘circular city' where urban culture and municipal systems align to enable resources to be kept in use at their highest value, and waste and energy systems are integrated to provide important utilities whilst reducing the carbon footprints of cities.

We’ll then hear from our Panellists about four specific examples of good practice in four growing cities across the African continent and a moderated panel discussion on what these teach us.
