

Volunteer with Heartland Human Care Services
50 volunteers will be weeding as well as adding compost and mulch to various areas around the farm. These areas include areas targeted for new native plants, the outside fence line, community gardens, grow beds, and gravel paths.

Founded in 1888 by social worker Jane Addams, Heartland Human Care Services work focuses on supporting individuals and communities affected by violence, displacement, and other humanitarian emergencies. Specifically Chicago FarmWorks (the farm we will be volunteering at) is a 2.8-acre urban farm in East Garfield Park. The farm helps provide produce to low income communities and provided 7,400 pounds of produce in 2023.
