What's on this month?

This month, we've carefully curated three excellent speakers. Each is a genuine expert, offering informative presentations that will challenge your thinking, provide the latest insights, and present different perspectives from the best in the business.

Don Cooke, Founder and Principal Consultant at Learnteam

https://www.linkedin.com/in/don-cooke-lms/

Don Cooke is a learning systems strategist with a background in Moodle and enterprise LMS design. His work centres on a simple question: If live-time is the most expensive part of learning, why do we spend it transferring information?

Murder in the training room

Conventional approaches for on and offline learning have a long term retention rate of around 10-20% whereas adoption of blended and flipped classroom are nearer 50-70%  Don helps organisations redesign programmes using flipped classroom principles - moving knowledge transfer online and structuring synchronous sessions around application, problem-solving and performance. He approaches flipped learning not as a trend, but as an architectural decision that reshapes how learning ecosystems function.

Viv Cole, L&D Consultant

https://www.linkedin.com/in/vivcole/

Viv has freelanced for over 20 years with several global companies and many of Brighton's leading digital businesses. He has worked in facilitation, e-learning design, business partnering, digital marketing and coaching. Recognised as a Learning Technologies Awards judge, Viv is a stickler for insightful performance consulting, designing engaging learning experiences and a well brewed cup of tea.

Taking your freelance career to the next level

Whether you are already freelancing, are thinking about going freelance or know someone who's considering taking the plunge, this session will help you navigate the thrills and spills of being freelance. Although you're the boss and it's your business to take in any direction you want, it's helpful to have a framework for taking your strategic decisions. Viv talks through the typical lifecycle of a freelance business and gives practical advice on how you can take your freelance career to the next level.

Kirstie Greany, Head of Learning Strategy at Elucidat

https://www.linkedin.com/in/kirstiegreany/

Kirstie Greany is a learning strategist, storyteller, and speaker with 20+ years’ experience helping global organisations rethink workplace learning. As Head of Learning Strategy at Elucidat, she shares research-backed insights that help L&D leaders design more effective, people-centred learning. Kirstie hosts the Learning at Large podcast, runs roundtables for senior learning leaders, and regularly speaks on the future of digital learning and learning strategy.

State of digital learning 2026: What’s still missing for employees? In this 15-minute insight session, Kirstie Greany shares key findings from the State of Digital Learning 2026 report, based on global research into employee expectations and workplace learning experiences. Discover what learners say works, what still frustrates them, and where many learning strategies are falling short. You’ll leave with a clearer picture of the gaps between today’s digital learning experiences and what employees truly need to learn, grow, and perform at work.
