Sweden's First AI Safety Day
Swedish AI Safety Day 2026
Sweden is strong at adopting AI, but it is lacking when it comes to safety efforts: there is no AI Security Institute (AISI), no established talent pipeline, and no regular forum for decision-makers and civil society in which to convene. Some initiatives exist, but few people know about them.
We want to change this.
This event brings together organisations, policy makers, researchers, and curious individuals. Alongside the talks, there will be matchmaking: getting to know each other's work and finding ways to join in.
What we want to achieve
Connect organisations and give existing initiatives a stage
Match people with organisations and bring new co-founders together to start more
Share tested approaches to starting an AISI, building a talent pipeline, and launching an organisation
Give policymakers a direct way to meet the people already working on this
Launch an open letter supporting a Swedish AISI
Focus areas
Technical: strategic resilience, including continuity of access to foreign frontier models and compute, domestic fallback capabilities and Nordic cooperation
Governance: what a Swedish AISI should do, and how labour-market and welfare institutions can prepare for a range of AI outcomes
Talent pipeline: what careers exist in the field and how we could funnel Sweden's talent into AI safety careers
International collaboration: lessons from AISIs, and field-building organisations abroad
Speakers: to be announced soon
