Fix it - Break It! Lamp Repair Workshop

​Want to build repair skills? In this hands-on, introductory workshop, you’ll learn the basics of lamp repair as a foundation for how to repair electronics. We’ll explore the current repair landscape, including the Right to Repair movement and California’s existing and upcoming laws.

​Then, we’ll review lamp components, tools, & safety and understand circuit continuity through an experiential activity.

​The bulk of the workshop will be hands-on practice fixing a lamp from a provided kit (do not bring your own lamp to fix), learning the advance step of adding a switch, and finally, taking the lamp apart again! Participants will come away with a deeper knowledge of lamps, circuits, and basic electronics repair skills, including how to use key tools like a wire stripper and a multimeter.
