Vernissage | Between Bloom and Becoming | Catherine Ong
Arrival of Catherine Ong at ARTitude Galería
An evening celebrating the arrival of Malaysia-based artist Catherine Ong and the beginning of her representation with ARTitude Galería.
This vernissage marks the opening of her new exhibition, Between Bloom and Becoming, introducing Ong’s practice through a selection of her sculptural, textured works. Her visual language is shaped by movement, repetition, and tactile surfaces, developed over the past eighteen years through a multidisciplinary background in fashion, interior design, music, and culinary arts.
Catherine Ong is the co-founder of Arkateori, a Kuala Lumpur–based texture art studio she established with her brother, Sean Ong. Through Arkateori, they explore the expressive and therapeutic potential of texture and repeated gestures — a practice that emerged during a period of personal grief, transforming art into a space of healing and reflection.
As the artist describes:
“Texture art comprises unique forms of therapeutic movement with simple repeated motions… Art heals.”
Guests will be invited to discover the works in an intimate setting, meet the artist, and gain deeper insight into the philosophy behind her practice.
If you would like to receive the e-catalogue in advance and pre-reserve a work, please feel free to reach out.
