Jones Street Salon: Perfection

​A young creative couple has designed the perfect life in Berlin. So why does it feel so empty?

​For the next Jones Street Salon, we’re reading Vincenzo Latronico’s Perfection — a short, sharp novel about Anna and Tom, two young designers who have built an enviable life in Berlin. At least, that’s how it looks online.

​But underneath it all is a more unsettling question: Is this actually the life they want?

​We’ll gather over dinner at Cafe Katja, bringing a little of the book’s Central European atmosphere to the Lower East Side, and use Perfection as the starting point for a wider conversation about the lives we design for ourselves — and the versions of them we perform for the internet.

​Our central question:

​What happens when you get the life you thought you wanted?

​This is less traditional book club and more dinner conversation. Please come having read the book or listened to the audiobook. And despite the short notice, there’s plenty of time: Perfection is genuinely about a three-hour read.
