Attention as an Art Form with Adam Robbert
What is attention, and how can we cultivate it today? How does it shape our relationships: with others, with ideas, with ourselves? Can we reclaim attention as a practice or art form, rather than a scarce resource to be captured and manipulated?
Join Adam Robbert and Ashley Zhang for a fireside chat and an evening of spirited conversation. There will be small bites and libations; just come with an inquisitive mind.
This is the second event in The Art of Being Human, a series by Imbue for the shared exploration of human questions in our technological age.
Adam Robbert is a philosopher by training, and a writer, editor, and researcher by vocation. His focus is on the relationship between practice and perception in the fields of philosophy, religion, and contemplation. He currently runs an event series, The Theōros Lectures, based in the SF–Bay Area and centered on the role of contemplation in the humanities in the 21st century. Previously, he founded The Side View, an independent digital and print publication that gathered together artists, scientists, philosophers, designers, and contemplatives to explore how our practices transform our perception. He writes regularly on his newsletter, The Base Camp.
Ashley Zhang is the Storyteller at Imbue, where she works on articulating a humanistic vision for our technological future. She hosts the “Art of Being Human” event series and writes the blog Soft Power, exploring what it means to live a flourishing human life in the age of AI.
Imbue is an AI company building tools to empower humans in the AI age. We’re building toward an open agent ecosystem where you can understand, modify, and verify agents—so they only work in your interest.
