Tree Talk and Walk with Arborist Jack Montgomery (Learn Pruning Techniques!)
Join 400 Trees for a guided “Tree Walk” through beautiful downtown Gloucester, led by certified arborist and Tree Director Jack Montgomery. As we walk various tree planting locations downtown, Jack will share practical insights into proper pruning techniques, tree care, and the important role trees play in creating healthy, vibrant communities. You’ll learn how thoughtful pruning can improve a tree’s health, longevity, and appearance while helping us better understand the unique challenges trees face in an urban environment.
The walk will focus especially on structural pruning—a proactive approach to developing strong, healthy trees with a form that is well suited to life in the city. While these techniques are valuable for all trees, they are particularly important for city trees, which must coexist with sidewalks, roads, buildings, utilities, and people. Come learn how we can care for Gloucester’s growing urban forest today while helping its trees grow stronger and thrive for generations to come.
