The Price of Permanence
Guaranteeing and pricing permanence for carbon is one of the most important questions facing the ecosystem today. New approaches to durability are emerging, including contracted durability, and they all rest on being able to fairly assess reversal risk across portfolios while forecasting future costs.
This session presents the latest results from Carbon at Risk, covering REDD+, reforestation, biochar, enhanced rock weathering and DACCS, including how the cost of managing reversals changes under different replacement strategies. It is followed by a panel spanning governance, conventional and novel removals, and financial markets.
