Conversations with Modern Stoicism feat. Brittany Polat
In July we welcome Brittany Polat to Conversations with Modern Stoicism.
Brittany is a philosophical writer, community organizer, and nonprofit founder who has spent nearly a decade making Stoic wisdom accessible to people from all walks of life. She is the co-founder and president of Stoicare, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that promotes Stoicism as a philosophy of care, and serves on the steering committee of Modern Stoicism.
Our conversation will focus on her latest book, Jesus and Stoicism: The Parallel Sayings. The book explores the shared ethics of two of the world's great wisdom traditions, examining common ground on virtue, integrity, the rejection of materialism, and universal care for all people. It is a thoughtful, accessible look at what Jesus and the Stoics — Marcus Aurelius, Epictetus, Seneca — were each pointing toward, and where those paths converge.
Whether this is your first time or your thirtieth, you are in for a treat at Conversations with Modern Stoicism.
Conversations with Modern Stoicism is an interactive virtual gathering that provides an opportunity for Stoics around the world to connect, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue with each other.
This means cameras on, microphones working. You will meet and talk to practicing Stoics from around the world.
The events feature a presentation from a respected speaker followed by multiple rounds of audience conversations via Zoom breakout rooms.
The events are lively, engaging opportunities to collaborate with others as you pursue your journey into philosophical Stoicism.
