ControlAI Seattle Citizen Group Meeting
Come join the ControlAI Seattle Citizen Group! We're Seattle locals who are worried about where AI is headed and are doing something about it. New faces are very welcome, and no expertise is needed.
Why we care
AI companies are racing to build runaway machine intelligence: AI that's smarter than us at basically everything, and that we couldn't control. Top AI scientists, Nobel Prize winners and even the heads of the big AI companies have warned it could lead to human extinction. Yet there's almost no regulation. Selling a sandwich has more rules.
So we advocate for an international ban on developing these systems, both with the Seattle public and with our lawmakers.
What we do
Meet with our lawmakers. We've already met with the offices of Rep. Adam Smith and Sen. Maria Cantwell, and we're lining up more meetings soon.

Learn together through workshops, reading groups and lightning talks
Lawmakers rarely hear from constituents about this, so a handful of us speaking up really gets noticed.
