A Mini-Tour of Three Inspiring Mid-City Native Gardens, by Plant Native Laurel Canyon
Hi everyone! For our Sunday, October 13th meeting, we’ve organized an inspirational mini-tour to three of our favorite native gardens located in the Mid-City area.
3:00-3:30 — Laura Kim Residence: 402 N. Beachwood Dr. Los Angeles CA 90004
Our initial meeting point is an exquisite garden in Larchmont which showcases artful and ecological design, thriving native plants, fruit trees, and edibles. The property incorporates low water usage, gray water and composting. So many ideas here!
3:45 to 4:15 — Chris Elwell and Kory Odell Residence: 1235 S. Windsor Blvd. Los Angeles CA 90019
The second stop is a dramatic garden intriguingly dubbed Casa Apocalytica. Consistently featured on the Theodore Payne Garden Tour, the property is a masterpiece that combines lush native plants with the so-called “trash” saved from the dismantling of the previous hardscape. Sculptural and poetic!
4:30 to 5:15 Soraya Ahn Residence: 730 S. Longwood Ave. Los Angeles CA 90005
The last garden is a peaceful zen oasis, a stunning native plant haven with bubbling water features throughout. Here, we will take a moment to unwind with wine and cheese and to brainstorm ideas for our own gardens.
Please join us! Do RSVP soon as space is limited!
For carpool sign up or if you need to reach someone during the tour, please call or text Elaine (213-215-3285) or Sara (310-500-8577).
See you at 3pm sharp on Sunday, October 13th at Laura’s garden, our first stop!

P.S. Upcoming for our November meeting: A field trip to Theodore Payne for their Fall Plant Sale! It starts October 29th but we will go as a group on Saturday, November 2nd in lieu of our Sunday meeting for the month. Please let us know if you are interested in carpooling to TPF that day.
