Frequently Asked Questions:
Q: Do I need to be a Buddhist to join?
A: No! We are open to all young working adults (age 20-39) who wish to practise and learn the Dhamma (teachings of the Buddha) for a more peaceful life. As long as you are open-minded, respectful and curious to learn, you are welcome to join us.
Q: What happens if I don't turn up after signing up?
A: We understand that life happens, but if you don’t show up without informing us of a valid medical reason, you may be placed on the waitlist for your next event. DAYWA events are limited in size to keep them engaging and meaningful, so every spot matters.
Q: What is DAYWA about?
A: We seek to provide a quiet space for young working adults (20-39 years) to meditate and practise the Dhamma. We offer 6 regular activities to the community: Weekly Guided Meditation (Zoom and in-person), Monthly Dhamma Discussions, DAYWA Cares, Mindful Walk, DOPE - Day Of Practice and Retreats.
Q: Where does DAYWA operate?
A: DAYWA primarily operates through our Telegram community, where we share updates, resources, and event information. It’s our main platform for communication and connection, ensuring everyone stays informed and engaged. For a full FAQ, visit https://www.instagram.com/p/DTHmZPDD0_0/
Q: Why build this space?
A: As we navigated our careers, we realized that adulting brought uncertainty and noise to our meditation practice. We faced new pressures, burnout, and the struggle to find balance between career, relationships, and practice.
We needed a community that understood our unique obstacles.
Q: Can I bring my pets / my children?
A: To provide a peaceful and focused environment for everyone, we kindly ask that pets and children be left at home. This helps create a conducive space for all participants to fully engage in the mindfulness practices and connect with the experience. We appreciate your understanding!
Q: I'm visiting Singapore. Can I still join?
A: We're touched that you'd want to spend part of your visit with us! However, as DAYWA is focused on building an ongoing local community, we welcome participants who are residing in Singapore for at least the next 6 months. This helps us keep the space intentional and ensure meaningful, lasting connections. We hope you find a mindful community to practice with wherever your journey takes you!
