About the Event
Cities are at the frontline of the climate crisis. Extreme heat, flooding, and air pollution undermine fundamental rights to health, housing, mobility, and clean air—disproportionately affecting low-income and marginalized communities. At the same time, cities are drivers of change, uniquely positioned to pioneer fair, inclusive, and rights-based responses to climate challenges.
This session, hosted by the Raoul Wallenberg Institute of Human Rights and Humanitarian Law (RWI) in collaboration with the Stockholm Environment Institute (SEI), will bring together perspectives from research, law, and governance. Using RWI’s FIRE (Framework for Integrating Rights and Equality), the dialogue will explore how climate action in cities can protect rights and foster resilience.
