Into Nature with ACF – Australia's Biggest Bushwalk Event
Be a hero for nature!
Join the Australian Conservation Foundation (ACF) during Climate Action Week for a free and easy bushwalk at the Gadyan Track at Berry Island Reserve.
This relaxed 90 minute guided walk is part of ACF’s Australia’s Biggest Bushwalk event and is designed to connect with nature, spot local wildlife and reflect on the role we all play in protecting the places we love.
Whether you’re new to bushwalking or already enjoy time outdoors, this walk offers a welcoming and engaging way to experience nature in the heart of Sydney.
During the walk, we’ll:
Explore beautiful harbour-side bushland
Spot native birds and wildlife plus tips: look, listen, move quietly
Observe a large Aboriginal engraving site
Talk about how climate change is impacting nature
Share simple ways you can take action and get involved
Finish with a relaxed snack and chat
This walk-friendly event is open to all ages and experience levels. Bring your friends, family, gym buddies, even your dog*, or come along solo. Everyone is welcome!
It’s a great chance to meet like-minded people, connect with nature, and chat about climate and wildlife in a relaxed setting.
Please dress for the weather! Closed shoes, a hat, sunscreen and insect repellent are recommended. Don’t forget to bring your water bottle, binoculars (optional) and your phone or camera in case we spot some amazing wildlife!
Let’s walk together, connect with nature and take a step toward protecting tomorrow.
Getting there and parking: located at the southern end of Shirley Road, Wollstonecraft, Berry Island Reserve is a 10-minute walk from Wollstonecraft railway station. Limited on-street parking is available on Shirley Road.

Australia’s Biggest Bushwalk is ACF’s flagship fundraising event that happens in May. Thousands of people across the country will step outdoors in support of nature and wildlife.
Every step taken and every dollar raised will help protect the wild places and animals we love, now and for future generations.
