Maya Kilburn Plays and Writes Back: A Recital & A Handwritten Reply
Classical music. In a film studio.
Sunday 22 November 2026 · 1:00 pm
Aquifer Film Studio, Hackney Wick, London
£40 · Only 20 places left!
Maya Kilburn is playing a small recital in a very white room in Hackney Wick, with special guest and accompanist Pablo Esquivel. We've also added a (small) twist.
How it works
Book your place. On the next screen, you'll be asked for your name and your question (optional).
Send Maya your question. It can be serious, musical, random, or something personal you'd like to ask. Maya reads every one privately and will write you back.
Collect your reply. She writes your answer by hand on a notecard, and it will be waiting for you when you arrive on the day.
Not sure what to ask? Try one of these:
What was your most disastrous moment on stage?
Which piece do you secretly never want to play again?
What advice would you give to musicians?
...Is a cat or a dog the better audience?
The room
Not in a church or a concert hall! And we want you to sit closer to Maya and Pablo. Aquifer Film Studio is a bright, all-white filming space, so it's a bit like hearing the music inside a blank page. We're keeping it small, with just 30 guests in total, so you'll be close enough to see everything.
The music
Works by Mel Bonis, Michiru Oshima, Marguerite Canal, Karol Szymanowski and Astor Piazzolla.
Notecard: Ask Maya anything. She'll answer by hand.
When you book, you can send Maya an optional question or a message. Maya will read it and she'll write you back privately (yes in an old-school way!). We will give you the notecard when you arrive.
After the recital
There will be cake, and time to chat with Maya and Pablo.
What's included
A seat at the recital. About 50 minutes
A handwritten reply to your question, waiting for you on the day (optional!)
Cake and conversation afterwards (optional!)
Good to know
Doors open at 12:30 pm. Recital starts at 01:00 pm.

Only 30 places in total, and Maya is writing every note herself. Questions need to be in by 19th November, so she has time to write every reply!

Book your place, then answer the questions on the next page. That's how Maya gets your question.
