​Join Los Angeles–based filmmaker Ricky Rhodes for an intimate, invite-only evening exploring how global ocean stories and science can inspire regional action.

​Drawing from his 8-part documentary series for the United Nations Division for Ocean Affairs and the Law of the Sea (UN DOALOS), as well as his films focused on ocean and conservation, including stories of manatees and ocean clean-up efforts at the ends of the Earth, Ricky will share reflections from the front lines of ocean science, policy, and conservation, and what they can teach us about creating meaningful change closer to home.

​This gathering brings together local ocean leaders, advocates, philanthropists, and investors at the intersection of science and action, education and movement, and innovation and application.

​The evening begins at 5:30 p.m. with a VIP reception for conversation and connection, followed by a farm-to-table dinner served at communal-style tables. Throughout the evening, Ricky will be joined by local event partners Maritime Blue, Olympic Coast Exploration Center, and SR3 to explore the Pacific Northwest’s emerging blue economy, the challenges and opportunities ahead, and the role that storytelling, collaboration, and investment can play in moving ideas into action.

​Ricky’s UN DOALOS series brought ocean science and policy to life through human stories from Fiji and France. His work contributed to the ratification momentum surrounding the BBNJ Agreement, which entered into force as international law on January 17, 2026, an important milestone for the conservation and sustainable use of marine biodiversity beyond national jurisdiction.

​As the next wave of blue-economy infrastructure and programs gains momentum across the Pacific Northwest, this is a moment to learn from global experience and consider what regional action can look like here.
