About Event

🩺 Women's health is having a moment. But most conversations are only telling part of the story.

This one's different.

Beyond the Bandwagon: FemTech Without the Pink Wash brings together three perspectives you rarely get in the same room: A clinician on the ground dealing with the gaps every day; A scientist and CSO turning research into real product; and a founder who's actually built in this space. Together, they'll give you a 360-degree view of where women's health is, where it's heading, and what's still standing in the way.

Join us for a night of real conversation, live Q&A, and plenty of time to connect.

🔍 What you'll leave with:

  • A ground-level read on the clinical reality of women's health in ANZ and the direction it’s moving in.

  • An understanding of what it actually takes to turn research into products that reach women at scale.

  • A sharper view on where the real opportunities are for clinicians, founders, and investors.

And connections that matter in a curated room of clinicians, founders, researchers, and investors who are serious about this space.

🧬 Meet the Speakers

🎙️ Dr. Talat Uppal - Director, Women's Health Road

A gynaecologist, Clinical Senior Lecturer at Macquarie University, and one of Australia's most recognised advocates for female health. Dr. Uppal founded Australia's first Abnormal Uterine Bleeding Hub and serves as a clinical ambassador for AI-driven health solutions. Her work sits at the intersection of clinical innovation, menstrual literacy, and FemTech, and she represents RANZCOG on national interoperability initiatives. Expect her to speak to the clinical realities and the tech translating them into better patient outcomes.

🎙️ Dr. Amanda Shea – Fractional CSO, Clue

A molecular biologist with roots in ovarian cancer research, Dr. Shea now leads research at Clue, one of the world's leading FemTech platforms, where she works to close the gender data gap using self-tracked reproductive health data. She bridges rigorous biological science and consumer health technology better than almost anyone in the space. Expect her to speak to what the data is actually telling us, and what it could tell us if we collected it better.

🎙️ Georgie Drury - Co-Founder and CEO, Metluma

CEO and Co-Founder of Metluma, a menopause and midlife wellbeing platform, Georgie is a passionate advocate for gender equality and a two-time founder of tech-based health initiatives. Expect her to speak to what it actually takes to build in women's health, and why the current system keeps making it harder than it needs to be.

🎙️ Emily Casey - Community & Partnerships Lead, Tenmile

Moderating the discussion is none other than What The Health's very own Emily Casey! A medicine defector turned community builder and investor, she has spent the last several years connecting the dots across Australia's healthtech ecosystem through content, capital, and a lot of conversation. She knows this space, and she has a talent for asking the questions everyone's thinking but not saying out loud.
