Top AI Researchers Roundtable & BBQ Party in Los Altos Hills
Event Overview
Last month, Bay Area Founders Club hosted our first Top AI Researchers Roundtable, bringing together a highly curated group of AI researchers, founders, and industry leaders for a candid, off-the-record discussion on the future of artificial intelligence.
The response exceeded our expectations.
Several participants told us that the caliber of people brought together at the Top AI Researchers Roundtable was truly exceptional, and that the conversations were among the most substantive they’ve had since arriving in the Bay Area.
So we’re doing it again.
On July 12, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, BFC will host the second edition of our Top AI Researchers Roundtable in Los Altos Hills, bringing together leading AI researchers from organizations such as OpenAI, Google DeepMind, Anthropic, xAI, and other frontier AI companies and research institutions.
We’re honored to welcome the chairman and CEO of a NASDAQ-listed public technology company as a featured participant in this exclusive roundtable.
The discussion will be moderated by Grace Gong—Silicon Valley tech influencer, LinkedIn Top Voice, former venture capitalist, #1 Amazon bestselling author in the Venture Capital category, and angel investor—who will lead an in-depth conversation with researchers from the world’s leading AI labs.
This will be a fully closed-door, off-the-record conversation focused on the future of AI systems—from frontier research breakthroughs and emerging technical challenges to the next wave of opportunities that could shape the industry over the coming years.
The gathering is intentionally designed to be intimate, high-signal, and discussion-driven. No presentations. No panels. No media. Just thoughtful conversations among some of the brightest minds building the future of AI.
Following the roundtable, guests will continue the discussion over a private BBQ reception with fellow researchers, founders, and industry leaders.

Core Discussion Topics
The AI Scaling Endgame: Reliability, Compute, and the Next Platform Shift
Loop Engineering Reliability — What’s the actual path to making long-horizon agents reliable? Is the 40% SWE-Bench ceiling a model problem or an architecture problem, and what does a genuine breakthrough look like?
Agentic Token Economics — With demand elasticity >1, does efficiency improvement ever reduce total compute consumption, or is Jevons’ paradox essentially guaranteed in AI? Where does the curve actually bend?
ASIC vs. GPU Endgame — Is the “NVIDIA for training, ASICs for inference” bifurcation structural and permanent, or does NVIDIA have a credible path to defend inference at scale? What does the CUDA ecosystem look like in 5 years if JAX gains ground?
The Frontier Lab Gap — Is the Anthropic/OpenAI lead a compounding research advantage or a temporary head start? What would it actually take — technically, not just financially — for Google or Meta to close it?
When Does the Capex Cycle Break? — What are the specific, falsifiable signals that would indicate hyperscaler AI spending has disconnected from real demand? What’s the canary in the coal mine?

Why This Matters
The future of AI will not be shaped solely by public announcements or viral demos.
It will be shaped by small groups of people exchanging ideas, debating technical tradeoffs, and building trusted relationships behind the scenes.
The BFC AI Researcher Inner Circle is designed to create:
Deep technical and strategic dialogue
Cross-organization insight exchange
Authentic relationship-building among frontier researchers
A trusted environment for discussing sensitive ideas and future directions
