About Event

How to Love Our Mothers from OUT/SIDE/IN Neukölln is a multi-sensory installation and collective investigation.

Rooted in daughter-mother stories across borders, the project invites you into a living installation of poetry, paint, sound, and collective reflection.

Come write, listen, create, and meet others through a shared exploration of how we love, resist, and reconnect. ♡

Across the 48H Neukölln festival weekend, you’re welcome to join in different ways:

On Friday, come for the craft night with paint, a world map, a sound installation, and a free-writing corner. 🎨🗺️🖍️

On Saturday, the installation continues, followed by an Open Mic on love as a political act at 2pm, and later a Forum Theatre Performance at 6pm exploring the lived experiences of migrant daughters in Berlin. 🎤🎭🎧

The forum theater on Saturday, will be directed by expert in feminist theater of the oppressed, Uriara Maciel, and invites you to scenes that encourage collective action.

Oh. And we will be selling Singaporean food and snacks on the day! Expect carrot cake, cereal tofu, and tom yum fried rice :) Come hungry 🦀

On Sunday, the exhibition closes with a final reading of poems and letters, alongside the evolving paint map 🍰💌🌍

Whether you want to create, listen, perform, or simply spend time with others, this space is open to you ✨

Participation is free!

Please let us know in your RSVP which part you’d like to attend:
Friday Craft Night, will you join the craft workshop, add to the paint map, write, or spend time with the installation? 🎨
Saturday Open Mic, would you like to perform? If yes, please share a sentence or two about what you’d like to share. 🎤
Saturday Forum Theatre, will you attend as an audience member? 🎭
Sunday Closing Reading, will you join the closing reading of select poems and letters? 💌
