Community Resiliency: The North Minneapolis Solar Microgrid
Communities with vulnerable populations need to plan for the impacts of climate emergencies, including the loss of power for extended periods of time. Come hear about the North Minneapolis Community Resiliency Hub, a solar microgrid with 1.4 megawatts of rooftop solar and 2.0 megawatts of battery storage on a cluster of four Minneapolis Public Schools buildings. Funded, in part, by a grant from the U.S. Department of Energy and financing from the state green bank program, this project is scheduled to come on-line this summer. What is a microgrid, and how can it help community residents meet critical needs in an emergency?
