Communal Responsibility During Aninut

We will quickly review Rabbi Joseph Ozarowski's presentation about the traditional communal response when there is a death. Then we will examine the pros and cons of additional communal responses, including the importance of presence, appropriate comfort, and assistance with the practical needs of the onen – What we might call Shomrim aninut. We will encourage personal stories and discuss options for those who want to help. What can members of a synagogue do? What teams will spring into action? What training will they have? What happens when the onen does not belong to a synagogue? And of course, should we really be doing this?
