👩‍🎤Find your authentic self through play and embodied connection [members & +1s] 6/3-6/24

​​Hi All,

​More often than not we associate improv with quick thinking, witty lines, and being funny. That's a helpful skill to drive the story forward but if a character lacks emotional depth, and vulnerability, it will not land with the audience.

​​​👯 Are you interested in connecting with others in an authentic, playful way? Join us in a 4-week somatic journey for your inner child. You just may leave sessions with more energy and inspiration to move through life differently. 

​​​🤡 For play to happen, a safe container needs to be created within our bodies and among each other. We'll build these foundations together week by week. 

​In this workshop, I'd love to show you how you can leverage your emotions and movement to find your authentic character in the moment. Before you even know the lines or scene direction.

​​We'll work in groups and pairs to focus on scene discovery, not invention in the NOW.

​​​What I have in store for you:

​Week 1: Connecting with yourself

​"Yes, and." We'll learn how to say yes to ourselves and retrain our bodies to find joy in mistakes. We’ll work in groups to get attuned to the external and learn to respond to it.

​Week 2: Connecting with others

​Creation in improv is not completely up to one individual. We'll learn how to give and receive gifts from others. Pair work/scene making.

​Week 3: Creating as a group

​One group, one mind. We'll sync as a unit and practice storytelling together. How can we drive the story arc with a clear beginning, middle, and ending?

​Week 4: Psycho drama/psychosomatic play

​Find an emotionally stirring life event and try to recreate it in scene-making. How did it inform the improv experience? How can we mine material from the lived experience?

​​​If the event intro sparked something in you, trust the nudge! Exciting but scary is what you need to show up.

​​​Everyone is welcome - no formal training/preparation required. 

​You're encouraged to attend all sessions as they will build upon one other.

​​550 Studio: We’ll be meeting in the way back of The Commons. Go through the co-working hall to the largest event space
