​This lecture is part of the NBS-PRI-ECGI Public Lecture Series, a global joint initiative by Nanyang Business School (NBS), Principles for Responsible Investment and European Corporate Governance Institute to facilitate knowledge exchange between academia, industry, and policymakers in sustainable business.

​Mobilising private capital at scale is critical to financing sustainable development, particularly in emerging and developing economies (EMDEs), where it is needed most. This lecture explores the barriers and opportunities to scaling sustainable investment, including the role of risk perceptions and market frictions. It then looks at how blended finance can be designed to deploy catalytic capital more effectively and crowd in private investment.
