Continuity Between COPs: Rewiring Climate Finance for a New Geopolitical Era
The afternoon before world leaders gather in Antalya for the COP31 World Leaders’ Summit, the World Climate Foundation and the Milken Institute will convene a select group of investors and key stakeholders for a closed working session to discuss specific strategies to accelerate climate deployment outcomes between COPs.
COP31 is focused on shifting from agreeing on rules to accelerating the real-world implementation of climate policies, including the global energy transition. Yet the financing structures through which that implementation must occur remain fragmented, unscaled, and - in a world of shrinking public budgets, the AI race, and sharpening great-power competition - unaligned with the flow of capital
This roundtable addresses that gap directly, focusing on emerging and specific strategies that asset owners and sovereign wealth funds can take in the following areas:
Moving private capital through regional innovation, data sharing and pricing risk
Redirecting limited public capital to drive more public-private partnerships for sustainable infrastructure and market creation
Shifting to an investor-led narrative to reflect the risks and value creation opportunities created by changing geoeconomic conditions and AI
Both the World Climate Foundation and the Milken Institute believe that when the world attempts to bring the global economy into a single climate agreement, business and investors are too often absent from the room. This roundtable is premised on the same conviction: that closing the gap between ambition and execution requires the people who move capital to be in the same room as the people who set policy, and that this is precisely the right moment for that conversation.
The roundtable will be followed by a Reception.
