βPost-Growth Circle: Culture, Upbringing, Tradition and Growth
π 6 Oct 2026, Tuesday
π° 7 - 9pm
π TACS, Near Bendemeer MRT
Join Esther Lie from Degrowth London as she shares insights from her MSc research, unpacking ESEA perspectives on the idea of 'growth'. During her time at SOAS studying Environment, Politics and development, she aimed to better understand barriers to thinking and dreaming beyond growth with ethnically Chinese diaspora, through ethnographic interviews with decision-makers.
We'll be exploring the role of culture, upbringing and tradition in shaping our relationships with 'growth' and thus degrowth/postgrowth. We will also be exploring the cultural tensions and openings that arise in your own relationship with 'growth'/a 'good life' and how these could be generative in connecting with people outside of growth-critical bubbles!
Esther is also a Green Party Councillor in London and very keen to hear from people interested in progressing postgrowth policies.
