What’s in a Pitch? A Deck by Any Other Name…
Friday 11 September 2026
What are angel investors really looking for when a founder pitches?
A strong pitch is about much more than having an impressive deck. Investors are assessing the founder, the team, the opportunity and, importantly, whether they believe they can work with you.
Join us for an engaging and practical workshop with Roop K Bhadury, entrepreneur, Angel Investor and AI strategy specialist, as he shares his perspective on what founders should focus on when pitching to angel investors.
About the Workshop
Roop will explore three important areas that can influence an angel investor’s decision:
Likeability
Investors are potentially entering a long-term relationship with you and your team. Does the chemistry feel right? Are you someone they can see themselves backing and working alongside?
Believability
Are you credible? Have you done your homework? Do you understand your market, customers and competition? What is your unfair advantage, and what evidence can you provide to reduce the perceived risk?
Coachability
Can you listen, absorb feedback, decide what is relevant and continue to improve? Early-stage businesses evolve quickly, and the ability to learn, experiment and iterate can be just as important as the original idea.
What You’ll Learn
During the session, Roop will share practical guidance on how to improve both your pitch and your delivery, including:
Why fewer slides can often create a stronger pitch
Why you should never simply read from your deck
How to project your voice and communicate with confidence
How to make slides easier for investors to understand
Which key metrics investors want to see
Why your team deserves meaningful attention in the pitch
How experiments can strengthen your proposition
Why successful founders innovate — but continuously iterate
How to build greater credibility with potential angel investors
