TWA Barbecue

​Join us for an afternoon of barbecuing and various other special events to celebrate the culmination of the class "TWA: Total Work of Art" from Ultralight School this summer 2025!

​Come at 1pm for barbecue and 2pm for the beginning of some important announcements by participants including Maddy Bruster, Ha Duong, Mary Jiang, Halim Lee, Siri Lee, Quinlan Maggio, Ritam Mehta, Jiamin Ren, Maria Surawska, Goda Thangada; and co-teachers Bryant Wells, Laurel Schwulst, and Stephen Kwok. The class has been hosted at telos, which is also the site of this barbecue, where we'll enjoy both outdoor roof and indoor space.

​In the 7 week class “TWA: Total Work of Art” (which has been running in June, July, and now August this summer) we invited participants to shapeshift a concept across three modalities: 1) digital, 2) physical, and 3) temporal. Inspired by wide-ranging examples of design as world-building — think Bauhaus, Beyoncé, Bernadette Corporation — this class responded to how culture is experienced today, inviting everyone to develop a core concept across these multiple points and moments of access. The class culminates in a public event (this barbecue) in which the participants present the totality of their work.
