Bits in Bio Live: Founder Mode with Sid Sijbrandij
Sid Sijbrandij co-founded GitLab and grew it from a home office in the Netherlands into a publicly traded company valued in the billions, known for building one of the largest fully remote companies in the world.
In 2022, Sid was diagnosed with an aggressive bone cancer. Rather than defer entirely to the standard system, he applied the same founder instincts that built GitLab to his own care, pursuing exhaustive diagnostics, building a personal care team, and testing treatments in parallel instead of waiting on the conventional playbook. His cancer is now in remission.
Join us for a live fireside chat where Sid shares what it actually looked like to go "founder mode" on his own cancer, what it reveals about the gaps in how biotech and healthcare innovate, and what's next.
