#VTJTalks: Grading Vancouver’s Innovation Economy in 2026
It’s report card time for Vancouver tech.
2026 has been a big year for the city’s innovation economy. There have been major funding rounds and exits, the second edition of Web Summit Vancouver, new momentum in AI, defence tech, quantum and life sciences, and fresh government investment in the sector. But the year has also brought real challenges, from access to growth capital and the cost of living to talent retention and competition from other global tech hubs.
So how did Vancouver actually do?
Join Vancouver Tech Journal for an honest, data-informed conversation with founders, investors and ecosystem leaders as they grade Vancouver’s performance across key areas. These include funding and capital, talent, scaling companies, policy and government support, and global competitiveness. Where did the city earn top marks, where does it need to improve, and what will it take to move from “promising” to “world-class” in 2027?
Expect candid takes, a few debates, and a clear look at what’s working, what isn’t, and what comes next.
This event is for founders, investors, policymakers, tech professionals, and anyone invested in the future of Vancouver’s tech ecosystem.
