Film Showing "SOS: The San Onofre Syndrome"
The Samuel Lawrence Foundation is hosting a showing of "SOS - The San Onofre Syndrome: Nuclear Power's Legacy". This documentary film follows a community's successful advocacy regarding reactor concerns at San Onofre, while examining the ongoing challenge of radioactive waste storage near the coast.
The film uses San Onofre as a case study to explore broader questions about radioactive waste management across the country. As aging storage containers require attention and replacement, communities and officials are working to develop long-term solutions for safe waste storage and disposal.
The documentary examines both the challenges and the efforts underway to address these important public safety and environmental concerns.
