Science Diplomacy: Innovation, Culture, and Global Cooperation
Science Diplomacy: Innovation, Culture, and Global Cooperation
OPEN AUSTRIA is hosting a special evening event in San Francisco that builds on the outcomes of the preceding workshop on Science Diplomacy and innovation culture. The gathering will begin with short presentations from participants, who will share their key findings, insights, and proposed approaches on how innovation ecosystems, cultural dynamics, and diplomacy intersect.
These participant reflections will lead into the evening’s central conversation on Innovation Culture – Culture & Innovation. Experts from academia and entrepreneurship will illustrate how different innovation environments generate knowledge and translate it into societal value. The discussion will explore how cultural differences shape innovation practices and how science diplomacy can turn these differences into productive synergies.
The event will also address the growing role of AI and emerging technologies as both instruments and subjects of diplomacy. By connecting AI governance to broader innovation culture, science diplomacy can contribute to global norms that protect human rights while fostering creativity and economic growth. Leadership remains essential in this process. Approaches rooted in empathy, resilience, and self-awareness provide a human-centered guide for diplomats, scientists, and innovators navigating complex global challenges.
Ultimately, the evening aims to show that Science Diplomacy is not only about crisis response or formal negotiations. It is a proactive strategy for shaping the future of innovation and ensuring that global knowledge flows remain open, inclusive, and directed toward the common good.
OPEN AUSTRIA is delighted to welcome Dr. Ludovit Garzik, author of Successful Innovation Systems and Managing Director of InnovationOrbit, who will be in San Francisco from November 17–21 as part of his ongoing collaboration with the Silicon Valley innovation ecosystem.
A networking mingle will follow the presentations and discussion, offering participants and guests the opportunity to connect and continue the conversation.
