February is Black History Month, and this screening is a chance to come together around films that reflect Black communities through everyday moments of love, creativity, struggle, and connection. all love

Moonlight
An intimate and groundbreaking portrait of Black queer identity, Moonlight traces how race, masculinity, class, and sexuality intersect across a lifetime. Celebrated for its direction and performances, the film challenges narrow representations of Black manhood and affirms vulnerability, emotional interiority, and queerness as essential parts of Black history.

Sing Sing
Sing Sing centres the humanity of incarcerated men, many of whom are Black, and examines the social consequences of mass incarceration. Acclaimed for its authenticity and ensemble cast, the film highlights creativity, community, and rehabilitation while foregrounding dignity and resistance within deeply unequal systems.

SOY is a program at Sherbourne Health that supports LGBTQ2+ youth aged 29 and under, with a focus on those who face additional barriers such as homelessness, racialization, newcomer status, or experience in the child welfare system. The program works to support young people in restoring, maintaining, and improving their overall health and well-being by offering affirming, practical, and relationship-centred support.

  • Connects youth to affirming counsellors, healthcare providers, and dieticians

  • Supports access to financial assistance and income supports

  • Helps youth find employment and housing

  • Assists with goal setting, education, and returning to school
