Make original songs: sound design and music production for beginners

​TL;DR - Make your own original songs using professional software, and build an easily monetizeable hobby. Absolute beginners welcome.

​What this is

​Learn to create your own signature sounds and produce groovy electronic music that makes people move!

​You don't need to know how to sing, and you don't have to be good at playing an instrument. Absolutely no musical experience required - all you need is a computer and good taste in music.

​By the end of this session, you’ll have built the foundation of your own original track — something you can develop into a full song within a week.

​This is where you stop imagining making music and start actually doing it.

​I will teach you -

• ​How to create and program your own sounds using synthesizers

• ​How to layer these sounds to create beautiful harmonies.

• ​How to pick the right sounds and program drums to make people move with your music

• ​How to use professional-grade music production software.

• ​And some basic music theory to go with it

​This is not a DJ-ing session

​We won't be learning how to mix songs like a DJ - we'll be learning to create the very songs that DJs mix.

​What you need before the session

​You’re welcome to work on my computer, but I strongly recommend bringing:

• ​Your own laptop

• ​Headphones / earphones

​If you do bring your own computer, please also :

• ​Download the drum kit from this google drive link - we'll be using it to make a beat

• ​Download the trial version for Ableton Live 12 from this link. It's free for 30 days.

• ​Download the "Basic" version of Vital from this link (the software we'll use for sound design). It'll ask you to sign in, just do it - they don't spam. Do not use it offline.
