K–12 Parents and School Safety: Understanding Title IX Through Real World Guidance
K–12 Parents and School Safety: Understanding Title IX Through Real World Guidance is a practical, conversation-based training designed to help parents understand how Title IX protects students from sex-based harassment and discrimination in K–12 schools. Using clear examples, real-life scenarios, and easy-to-follow guidance, this one-hour virtual session explains how Title IX works in everyday school environments, what happens when concerns are reported, and how schools evaluate conduct using a totality of the circumstances approach.
Participants will learn the difference between conflict, bullying, and sexual harassment; how to report concerns; what supportive measures such as safety plans or classroom adjustments may look like; and how to communicate with schools in a constructive way that supports student well-being.
The training also explores common scenarios involving student behavior, rumors, unwanted comments, privacy concerns, and conduct that may make a child feel unsafe or targeted. Parents will leave with greater confidence, practical tools, stronger communication strategies, and a clearer understanding of how schools work to keep students safe.
This training is offered at no cost to parents and includes the live virtual session, guided materials, downloadable resources, and 30 days of access to digital follow-up materials.
