Build for real industry problems
Across industries, critical operational knowledge lives in people’s heads - in senior technicians, site managers, and experienced operators.
When they leave, that knowledge disappears.
This Fixathon tackles that problem in real industrial environments across construction and manufacturing.
What is a Fixathon?
You work directly with companies solving real operational problems, side by side, for 48 hours.
You’re building something that can go into production.
Winning and nominated teams get a validated path to market, not just a prize.
What you’re building towards
Over 48 hours, multidisciplinary teams will tackle real industrial knowledge problems at the intersection of AI, operations, and process automation.
By the end, winning teams will have:
A working proof of concept using real industry input
Direct feedback from the challenge owners
€10,000 prize
1 year incubation & mentoring at Impact Hub Porto
This event is supported by n8n for automation and workflow orchestration.
Use it if it is useful, but you can build in any stack. Tool choice is open.
🧩 Challenges
🏗️ Challenge C: Capturing construction knowledge before it disappears
A large construction group is facing a critical risk: decades of technical and operational know-how are concentrated in senior site managers and engineers, much of it undocumented. As these experts retire, this knowledge is lost, leaving junior teams dependent on limited availability of experienced staff.
The challenge:
How can we capture fragmented, tacit construction knowledge and turn it into a scalable, real-time knowledge service for workers on site?
⚙️ Challenge M: Automating machining operations end-to-end
An industrial manufacturing company is running its machining operations through heavily manual workflows — from interpreting technical drawings and planning production to scheduling CNC machines, tracking parts, and calculating costs.
The result is slow decision-making, limited scalability, and a high dependency on manual planning.
The challenge:
How can we transform a fragmented, manual machining workflow into an automated, intelligent, real-time production system?
