Art Exhibition Opening + Artist Talk | Dear New York: A Liturgy of Places

​This exhibition is a love letter to the city, an homage to the moments that define its beauty (and whimsy).

​Featuring ceramicist & designer Katie Ellis’s newest collection created in collaboration with architect Amanda Iglesias, these handmade porcelain pieces are inlaid with drawings from Iglesias’s sketchbook, drawn from her walks throughout the city.

​Loosely inspired by traditional collector’s china, these works shift the pastoral to the urban, capturing scenes both familiar and fleeting: the park bench for weekend reads, the hot dog stand that’s always in the same spot, the side entrance to Central Park used to cut through to the museum.

​Also featured is a collection of letters and poems that give voice to the exhibition’s spirit—gathered by writer Elizabeth Moore and written by fellow New Yorkers.
