​The game: The Sometimes Kingdom RPG is a topsy-turvy high fantasy game set in the faraway era of the late 20th century. Here, the seasons are places, the dead don’t always die, the former antagonists of humankind are playable species (daemons, FaE, Giants, Skeletons, tricksy talking animals), every player class can cast magic, and the secret otherworld of the realm is Earth—or “The Regular World” as people in the know call it.

​THE FURNISHED MAN: at the edge of the blustery bustle of Copia, the Autumn Island of Seasons' Keep, the port city of Turnip is preparing for a most auspicious event: Scenic Day, when the city's households, guilds, unions and theaters clean out the clutter that's been piling up for years. Rumor is The King of Things is looking to conscript any magical gewgaw that turns out to be alive: Get thee into the ceremonies and stop the incursion! You've been given the go-ahead to cause as much chaos as needs be to do so: your wildest chaos muppet TTRPG play dreams will barely be noticed amidst the piles and throngs...right?
