Theatre & Climate Science Workshop
Join us for an exciting workshop at the intersection of theatre and climate science! Learn more about the scientific and social dimensions of one of the greatest challenges of our time by engaging with, acting out, and discussing theatre pieces.
We will start with a big-picture introduction to the science behind climate change, and then collectively read the play “The Trials” (2022) by Dawn King, where, in the near future, as the climate emergency is gathering pace, a jury of 12 to 17-year-olds is putting our generation on trial. If time allows, you will then explore either “Sila” (2015) by Chantal Bilodeau, which examines the competing interests shaping the future of the Canadian Arctic and local Inuit population, or “Kyoto”(2024) by Joe Murphy and Joe Robertson, which follows the international negotiations of the Kyoto protocol.
In your application, please tell us in 2-4 sentences why you are interested in joining this workshop and what experience or perspective you come into it with. People from all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome!
