Skills-to-Jobs: Strengthening Nigeria's Workforce Systems for Economic Growth
Join us for a pivotal side event, organised by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment in collaboration with Tech4Dev and Semicolon, to explore how workforce systems can transform economic growth in Nigeria and across Africa.
The United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) 2025, themed “Cooperation for Impact”, underscores the urgency of partnerships in solving global challenges.
For Nigeria, cooperation is not just a theme; it is the foundation of a new workforce transformation agenda. With more than half of the population under 25, Nigeria is uniquely positioned to harness its demographic dividend. Yet, the persistent disconnect between education, skills, and employment demands urgent and coordinated action.
Over the past year, Nigeria has made significant strides in bridging the skills-to-jobs gap through innovative public–private partnerships, evidence-based policy frameworks, and targeted interventions. These efforts are creating clearer pathways from learning to earning, strengthening institutional readiness, and unlocking new opportunities for youth to thrive in the global economy.
This flagship UNGA 2025 side event will highlight Nigeria’s leadership in workforce transformation, showcase scalable models, and catalyze international collaboration to build resilient economies and inclusive labour markets.

Keynote Speech by the Honourable Minister of Education, Nigeria, Dr. Olatunji Alausa, framing the skills-to-jobs agenda within national development priorities.
