About Event

​​​At Seagull Counting Club (SCC), we count seagulls. Bring your pen and paper, sunscreen and sunglasses, friends and family (toddlers welcome), and let's count to 89.

​​​The first person who counts 89 seagulls will be crowned as Counter of the Week (COTW). There is no prize, but you will get unlimited sunlight (until 7:07 pm EDT).

​​​FAQ:

  1. ​​​When should I arrive?

    • ​​​You get a head start if you arrive on time, but you can drop in anytime

  2. ​​​Can I count one seagull twice?

    • ​​​Yes! Contrary to common beliefs, you CAN and should count one seagull more than once, as long as it changes its position

    • ​​Flying counts as one position

    • ​​Walking counts as one position

    • ​​Standing still counts as one position

  3. ​​​What do I need to bring?

    • ​​​Anything that helps you to keep the count. A pen, a phone, etc. Bring water and snacks too.

  4. ​​​Why would I want to count seagulls?

    • ​​​Why do we do anything? For FUN.

  5. ​​​Will the Seagull Counting Club (SCC) ever get a website?

  6. ​​​Why 89…?

    • ​​​It’s a prime number.
