Kampala Photo Walk
Together, we will explore Kampala through photography and consider how the images we make shape the way people, places and everyday life are seen and remembered.
The walk is open to photographers and visual storytellers at different stages of their practice. Come with a camera or phone, meet other creatives and make work responding to the city around you.
Participation is free. Registration is required.
Kampala Photo Walk is held in collaboration with Muwado and Global Shapers Kampala.
About Unpublished Africa Photo Walks
Unpublished Africa Photo Walks are community gatherings for photographers and visual storytellers to explore their cities, practise street and documentary photography, build portfolios, and connect with other creatives.
This walk is part of Unpublished Africa’s wider work creating accessible entry-level opportunities for African visual storytellers. Through Photo Walks, publications, exhibitions, Creative Business Studio, and Photo Week, we support photographers as they move from practice into visibility, community, and opportunity.
During the walk, participants will be encouraged to look closely at the city: its movement, architecture, textures, people, work, memory, and everyday life.
This is not only about taking photographs. It is also about thinking carefully about how we tell stories, how we represent people and places, and how we use our narrative power as visual storytellers.
All levels are welcome. You do not need a professional camera to attend. A phone camera is enough.

Unpublished Africa encourages photographers to work with care, dignity, and responsibility.
Participants should avoid photographing children’s faces, sensitive locations, political activity, private moments, or people in vulnerable situations without proper care and consent.
We ask all participants to remember that every image has power. The way we photograph and publish people, places, and communities matters.
