An Introduction to Beekeeping, Pollinator Conservation, and Islamic Environmental Stewardship

Sunday, August 16
11:00 AM–3:00 PM
Staten Island, New York

Join Muslimah, Inc. and Bee U NYC for an immersive, hands-on introduction to beekeeping, pollinator conservation, and the significance of bees within Islamic teachings.

The experience begins with an interactive classroom session exploring honey bee biology, pollinator health, environmental conservation, and Islamic environmental stewardship. Participants will then suit up in professional protective gear and head into the apiary, where they will work alongside experienced beekeepers to observe and inspect a live honey bee colony.

During this workshop, you will:

  • Learn the fundamentals of honey bee biology and beekeeping

  • Discover the role of honey bees and native pollinators in healthy ecosystems

  • Explore factors contributing to global pollinator decline and how we can support conservation

  • Examine environmental stewardship through the lens of Islamic teachings

  • Suit up in professional protective beekeeping gear

  • Participate in a guided hive inspection and observe a working colony up close

  • Taste distinctive honeys from New York City's boroughs and around the world

  • Receive a Certificate of Completion presented by Muslimah, Inc. in partnership with Bee U NYC

  • Learn and connect in a welcoming, community-centered environment
