Her Name Is: Lilith Story Study 1
Her Name Is: Lilith
A three-week story and study circle
We were told that she was a demon. A seductress. A cautionary tale about what happens to women who won't lie still.
Before any of that, she was Adam's equal — made from the same earth, in the same breath. She said no to being beneath him, and the story that survived made her the villain for it.
That’s the pattern, isn’t it? A woman claims her power, and the story we inherit fixates on what she lost, designed to make us afraid of our own. We’re going to recover her power and agency, and (spoiler alert!) a happier ending, for her and for us.
---
This is for you if:
You're tired of patriarchal stories that write women's power out. You're yearning to feel — in your voice, in your body — that your power is sacred, and that it's needed right now. You're ready to learn the stories that haven't been told enough, through a queer and feminist lens.
---
What we'll do
Three weekly sessions. Each one moves you through a different layer of her story: where she came from, what was done to her name, and where she lives now.
As a Feminist Religious Scholar, twenty years with these texts live in me, and I want to share them with you in circle where we will read them together and let our own reading shape what we see.
**Session 1 — Origin.**
We open the circle and go to the source: the earliest texts, read aloud and studied together (in pairs or as a full group, depending on what the room wants) in conversation, not lecture.
**Session 2 — Evolution.**
We move through the Ben Sira story, where the accusation takes its clearest shape and then into modern commentary that pushes back, challenging the negative connotations we've inherited and were never allowed to question.
**Session 3 — Present Day.**
We move into contemporary retellings and our own stories. I'll share a Lilith song and art from my own practice, and open space for you to reflect on how she resonates in your own life, where she's alive in you, whether you'd named her or not.
Each session opens and closes with chant, and holds space for us to check in and reflect together.
What you'll leave with
You'll know Lilith in the tradition, and Lilith in yourself. You'll know the story they told about her, and the story underneath it. And you'll leave recognizing her power as your own.

This is the first in an ongoing series — a different sacred feminine or Queer figure, a different erased story, each cohort. Lilith is where we begin.
