Gero Decker co-founded Signavio from PhD research at the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam. What followed was a decade of building one of the world's leading process intelligence platforms - over 2,000 customers, 500+ employees, and a landmark acquisition by SAP in 2021. Today he serves as SVP and Head of Business Process Intelligence at SAP, and has recently published his book, "Signavio – Together As One."
His journey is a rare blend of academic rigour, founder grit, and the discipline required to sell, scale, and integrate enterprise software at global scale. From early stage fundraising in the unfashionable BPM space, through international expansion across Europe, the US, and APAC, to a landmark acquisition and the transition from founder to enterprise leader - Gero has lived through every chapter European enterprise founders dream about.
In a fireside chat with Linus Beck of Gründerszene, we will explore what it really takes to build a global B2B SaaS company from Europe, how Signavio expanded into new markets and product categories, what made the SAP acquisition possible, and what the next generation of European enterprise founders needs to understand about discipline, distribution, and durability.

Speakers & Hosts
Linus Beck - Journalist at Gründerszene. Linus joined Axel Springer in late 2025 and has been reporting at Gründerszene since February 2026. Before that, he studied economics and political science in London and Bayreuth and gained experience in consulting and tech.
Gero Decker - Co-Founder of Signavio / SAP. Gero was previously Co-founder and CEO of Signavio, acquired by SAP in early 2021. He holds a PhD in Business Process Management from the Hasso Plattner Institute in Potsdam and is a globally recognised thought leader in process management and business transformation. He currently serves as Strategic Advisor at SAP and Executive Sponsor for SAP Labs Germany.
