About Event

Hosted by Bahu Trust at the Faith Hub, Blue Zone, CBD COP17 (Yerevan, Armenia).

Northern Pakistan is home to more than 7,000 glaciers, the largest concentration outside the polar regions. These glaciers nourish mountain ecosystems, provide freshwater for millions of people and support a rich diversity of wildlife and cultures.

In this side event, 18-year-old youth advocate Umair Suleman will share his personal journey through the mountains of Northern Pakistan, where he spent time alongside local communities, explored the region's spectacular glaciers and learned how healthy ecosystems support resilient communities.

The session will also reflect on what this journey has meant for him as a young person, and how it has inspired him to encourage more young people to become champions for biodiversity.

By connecting personal experience with the vision of the Kunming-Montreal Global Biodiversity Framework, this side event will highlight how youth leadership, community partnerships and the conservation of mountain ecosystems can help create a thriving, nature-positive future for people and the planet.
