Bluefly Town Hall w/ Carlos Ospina: Periplus Demo
Ever opened an unfamiliar Drupal codebase and wished someone had drawn you a map? Carlos Ospina built a tool that does exactly that, and he's bringing it to the Town Hall for a live demo.
Periplus reads a codebase and writes out a map of how its pieces connect, with every node and edge pointing back to a file and line. It runs on "rutters," small YAML rule sets for each stack. The Drupal rutter picks up modules, services, routes, hooks, entity types, fields, plugins, and config. There's no AI in the mapping step. Run it twice on the same code and you get the same map. Anything it can't explain gets flagged as unknown instead of guessed.
Carlos has been in the Drupal community since 2012 and in tech since 1987. He's a member of the Bluefly Collective, maintains a handful of Drupal AI and ECA projects, and co-created the IXP Program for onboarding new developers. He writes about context engineering and Drupal in the AI era at A Drupal Couple.
We'll get into:
A live run of Periplus against a Drupal project
How rutters work, and what it takes to write one for a new stack
Why a repeatable map matters when you're handing context to people or AI agents
Where the project is headed (it's pre-release, so this is a great time to weigh in)
Open Q&A at the end
Periplus is open source under Apache 2.0. Check out the repo on GitHub before the session if you'd like a head start.
